Doug Doppler is a guitar player from California. He graduated at GIT in Los Angeles and he was introduced as a teacher at the Berkley School by the king Joe Satriani. He recorded his first solo album (Nu Instrumetal) under Favored Nations, Steve Vai’s label.
He has his own instructional project called Guitar 411, and his first DVD “Diatonic Theory and Harmony” is already on the market.
Doug’s style is strongly influenced by nu metal, with very aggressive and heavy riffs (Korn style) and his melodic shredding solo lines, not plaied only to show his tecnique but with a great sense of melody.
His gear is made by an ENGL Savage120 head for the rhythm parts, and a Marshall JCM2000 TSL for leads.
Doug is an Ibanez endorser, he uses S7470 seven strings guitars equipped with Di Marzio pick ups.
He just toured across Europe as the opening act for Gilby Clarke (Guns’n’Roses), I met him in Milan during his Ibanez clinic.

Doug Doppler è un chitarrista californiano. Diplomato al GIT di Los Angeles e introdotto come insegnante alla Berkeley nozingscitofless che da sua maestà Joe Satriani. Ha inciso un album (Nu Instrumental) per la Favored Nations che è l'etichetta di Steve Vai. Ha un suo progetto didattico che si chiama Guitar 411, di cui è già in commercio il primo DVD (+ CD audio) "Diatonic Theory and Harmony". Il suo stile è caratterizzato da ritmiche molto aggressive e "pesanti" (in stile Korn, tanto per fare un esempio, cmq "gnu metal" ;-)) che condiscono parti solistiche (tendenzialmente shreddy) piuttosto melodiche e cmq di gusto, non è uno "sborone per caso". Per questo motivo nella sua strumentazione standard possiamo notare una ENGL Savage 120 che usa per le ritmiche sborone e un Marshall JCM2000 TSL che usa per le parti Lead. E' endorser Ibanez con una S7470 (7 corde) powered by DiMarzio. Recentemente Doug è stato in turnè qui in Italia con Gilby Clarke (Guns 'n' Roses), l’ho incontrato da Lucky Music a Milano durante una sua clinic Ibanez. Ho cercato di non fare domande del tutto idiote (ho fatto molta fatica ;-))
