E' uno dei miei sogni, e per un pelo si stava realizzando. Ieri mi è arrivato l'invito a partecipare al 1° Festival Rock del Cairo. Qui di seguito incollo le mail della trattativa intercorsa col tizio Ahmed Ammar (in grassotto le mie risposte).

And if you are playing live 1st I'd like to present my self I'm Ahmed Ammar a representative of Music Gates, the leading events organizers in the middle east Since 2000. We'd like to invite you in our rock festival in march, It will be the 1st Rock festival in Cairo, Egypt.and it we shall be honoured by your Performing. This will be a good chance for you band to enter the middle eastern scene and will be a good step for going internationally. We'd like to increase the rock scene into double the no. that is available now.I hope you can help in that

Dear Glen, The duration shall be 45 min. , The date till now is not provided but till now it is about the 7th or 14th of March. The accommodation and the internal transportation shall be on our expense also we will provide you with a free tour to the Great Pyramids and the Egyptian Museum another thing is that we will announce the event on the local radio of Egypt, Many magazines. You will have also a Copy of your show Video and Audio Recording and if there was an official DVD for the event , we will send it to you. The idea is a free festival provided to increase the fan base in Egypt. All the Guest Bands will be considered the most helping bands in building the scene. It can be also a chance for you to be well known in the Middle eastern zone which shall get you a Good Revenue in the future.

Hi Ahmed, it could be ok for us to play for free in your charming country, but I should finance the band (6 guys) for air transportation from Italy (plus instruments). It's about 4/5000 euros. Currently I can't afford this outlay, sorry. Regards Ciao :) .G

Ovvio che se avessi vinto la Lotteria Italia, ci sarei andato de corsa. E' comunque un discorso un po' complesso. Ai Zizze, come band non interessa 'na cippa promuoversi, non abbiamo niente da vendere, e quindi non può essere un investimento giustificato (a meno che non venga preso il tutto come una vacanza, ma non posso certo obbligare gli altri a prendersi ferie non previste, nè a spendere 6 o 700 euri a zucca per il volo. Non tutti lo farebbero volentieri, senza poi contare che il Molina per esempio è allergico agli aeroplani).

Per quanto mi riguarda invece l'interesse c'è, e in vista di un prossimo eventuale CD ufficiale potrebbe essere una bella scians. Solo che Zizze o non Zizze (potrei organizzare una band ad hoc, anche se il tempo non è molto) attualmente non passo un periodo economicamente felice e poi ci sono anche i lavori per Accordo 2.0 che per il momento non ammettono distrazioni.

Peccato, magari sarà per il prossimo anno.
